The Fastest-Growing Industries That You Should Get Into Right Now

If you were to guess which jobs will explode over the next decade, what would they be? The world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic, and now with the advent of artificial intelligence, the future of work has never been so unpredictable. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, industries in the leisure, hospitality, healthcare, and social assistance sectors will experience the most growth. So it seems the qualities that make us human (athletic prowess, creativity, emotional intelligence, adventurousness, compassion, patience, etc.) will only become more invaluable. The team at U.S. Career Institute has visualized U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projections to showcase the fastest-growing and fastest-declining industries from 2021 to 2031:

So the #1 fastest-growing industry are promoters of events, agents, and managers in the leisure and hospitality sector, which is projected to grow by a whopping 39.2% by 2031. Common jobs in the industry include marketing managers, agents, business managers, or public relations specialists. The top three all are talent and entertainment related. Could this be because robots can’t replace creativity and talent? Or perhaps it is influenced by the renewed lust for fun and life sparked by the struggles of the pandemic? The fastest-declining industry is tobacco manufacturing, so that is exciting! Tobacco use rates have been declining over time. 42.6% of adults smoked in 1965 down to around 11.5% in 2021, which is an impressive decline indeed! All in all, this was an enjoyable and aesthetically-pleasing graphic that raises some interesting questions about how the future will look.
