Warren Buffett, aside from being one of the most famous billionaires in the world, is also the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, which is a conglomerate holding company headquartered in Omaha, NE. The company has more than $950 billion in assets and owns a great deal of brands that are household names. Just how many companies does Berkshire Hathaway own?

Investment advisor platform IndyFin.com took a look at the companies, brands, and subsidiaries that Berkshire Hathaway has a stake in to create the following visualization:


The following companies are considered to the “Four Giants” of Berkshire Hathaway which contribute the most towards the company’s profits:

  • Berkshire Hathaway’s portfolio of insurance companies (which Buffett has said will never go “obsolete”)
  • Apple
  • Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad
  • Berkshire Hathaway Energy

These are some of the other companies you may not know Berkshire Hathaway owns:

  • Benjamin Moore
  • Business Wire
  • Dairy Queen
  • Pampered Chef, Ltd.
  • See’s Candy Shops, Inc.

Additionally, Berkshire Hathaway also owns stakes in the following companies (among others):

  • The Kraft Heinz Company (26.6%)
  • American Express (19.9%
  • The Coca-Cola Company (9.2%)
  • Mitsubishi Corporation (5.5%)
  • Verizon (3.8%)
  • GM (3.6%)
  • Chevron (2.0%)

Overall, Berkshire Hathaway has a controlling interest in more than 60 different companies as well as partial stakes in 20 more. All of these investments give Buffett a net worth of about $126 billion (as of March 2022), making him the fifth richest person on the planet.

    a friend told me Kohls is owned by nestle. I will not go there. We need the information, the more specific the better
