This new chart comes to us from /r/Visualization on Reddit and provides an eye-opening look into the world of workers’ compensation. Included are the lowest and highest state maximum per body part, as well as the U.S. average and the average for federal employees for each body part.
How much can you get per limb or body part lost on the job? Well, it depends on the state! It turns out you can get wildly different payouts depending on which state you live and work in. A notable and shocking disparity for a lost or maimed hand. In Alabama, the maximum compensation is $37,400, meanwhile, the payout in Nevada is $738,967. The same hand in two different states would pay a whole lot more.
Check out the chart below (created by YourLawyer.com) to learn if your state is among the best or the worst in the nation. I’ll also chart out the full data in a table below the infographic at the bottom of this article for easy reference.
