6 Weird, Vulgar, and Ridiculously Motivational Speeches (NSFW)

Who doesn’t love a good, old-fashioned motivational speech? There are hundreds of the tasteful and inspiring pep talks from films and shows.

But the ones on this list are a little … odd. In that they’re vulgar, rude, strange, uncomfortable, and also incredibly motivating. Shield your ears if you don’t like swearing or strap in for quite a trip.

1. Let’s get the most obvious and important one out of the way.

Shia LaBeouf’s intense, crotch-waving, screaming, air-fisting motivational speech has been around for a while and inserted into pretty much any fandom imaginable. While it started as a video art project at a London-based college (during which LaBeouf had to perform 36 pieces in one day), the video has been explosively popular since it aired in 2015. Most people, though, haven’t seen the full version.

2. “Get your sh** together.”

Swearing about forcing things into backpacks has never been so inspiring as this speech from Rick and Morty.

3. Louis CK’s “What you get with a basic life.”

No one can mix incredibly vulgar and uncomfortable truths with overall gratitude for being alive quite like the depressing and enlightening Louis C.K. Here are more wonderful Louis C.K. quotes.

4. Arin Hanson’s Sonic ‘06 Rant

“Sometimes, you have to look inside yourself and say: ‘What am I willing to put up with today?’” These are wise words to live by from a YouTube let’s play star and his somewhat racist friend.

5. “Coffee is for closers.”

If you want to feel lazy today, Alec Baldwin is here to help you out. But maybe we really shouldn’t be as extreme.

6. George S. Patton’s Speech to the Third Army

Didn’t expect a real speech to appear on this list, did you? But this incredibly vulgar speech has deepened the desire to win while pointing out the gross unpleasantness of war.

Maybe his is a little too much, though. You really don’t have to rip people’s guts out to feel motivated, one would hope …
