Everyone poops. That’s a fact. But did you know that the frequency at which everyone poops is not only different from person-to-person but also from state-to-state? This new map from All American Waste Services shows how much the residents of each state poop. The differences across state borders are surprising.
The results of AAWSI’s original study showed that some people pooped as infrequently as once per week and some as many as 5 times per day. What causes these huge variations in poop schedules? People poop at different intervals for many reasons but some common ones are differences in diet, exercise, and genetics.
Which state poops the most? That honor goes to Michigan at an average of 2.182 times per day. Michigan is known for their Detroit-style pizza and the Coney Dog, but are these foods to blame?
Which state poops the least? The fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it) winner of this title is Missouri. The “Show-Me” State doesn’t have much poop to show as its residents go number two an average of only 1.131 times per day.
What is the average number of poops per day? AAWSI.com determined the average number of times for people to poop in the United States is 1.598 times. This leads me to make an educated guess that people are most likely to poop either 1 or 2 times per day on average. How often do you poop? Let us know in the comments below!
