Following the police killings of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and quite a few others, the Black Lives Matter movement exploded to a level that has never before been seen. Protests erupted across the country and even around the world.
There’s clearly a problem in America and it’s time to figure out how to fix it.
A New York law firm that works in police brutality litigation has conducted a new data analysis that resulted in the below visualization that shows which police departments kill the most citizens per 1 million people and then also takes a look at which police departments kill the most black people per 1 million black citizens (compared to other races) and finishes up by showing which PDs kill the most people for every 10,000 arrests. This information is not without its flaws but it helps shine a critical light on the problem and start a conversation that needs to be had.
