Pfizer made an impressive $2,578 per second in 2021! In fact, Pfizer practically doubled its revenue between 2020 and 2021, going from $41.91 billion to $81.288 billion! Pfizer’s hefty increase in revenue is attributed to creating the mRNA vaccine for the coronavirus, which holds around 70% of the U.S. and European markets. They also developed Paxlovid, which is the go-to pill for treating COVID symptoms. I had actually never heard of China-based Sinopharm, the second most profitable pharmaceutical company in the world. They also developed a vaccine against COVID-19 – it was the first vaccine developed by a non-Western company to earn emergency approval from the World Health Organization. What about Abbvie, the third most profitable pharmaceutical company? They are best known for manufacturing Humira, which is used to treat auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease.
