Unveiling the Biggest Influencer Lawsuits

In the world of social media, influencers hold immense power, but that influence can come with serious legal consequences. A study by LLC Attorney highlights some of the biggest lawsuits filed against influencers, covering issues like breach of contract, defamation, fraud, and trademark disputes.

The Biggest Lawsuits Against Influencers

One of the most high-profile cases involves YouTube star MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson). Virtual Dining Concepts sued him for $100 million, claiming he breached his contract by failing to promote their joint venture, MrBeast Burger, and made defamatory comments about the food’s quality. MrBeast countersued, arguing the company delivered “inedible” food to customers.

Similarly, Jake Paul faced a $100 million defamation lawsuit from boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. Paul accused Hearn of fixing fights, which Hearn vehemently denied before taking legal action.

Defamation lawsuits seem particularly common in the influencer world. Cardi B famously won $4 million against YouTuber Tasha K, who falsely claimed the rapper used drugs, was a prostitute, and had herpes. The court ruled in Cardi B’s favor, emphasizing the serious consequences of spreading false information online.

Other notable cases include the Nebraska Attorney General suing Liz Friesen for over $3 million and the Texas Attorney General seeking $400,000 from influencer Brittany Dawn Davis for misleading fitness programs.

These cases show that while influencers can build fame and fortune online, legal accountability is a growing part of their world. As their influence expands, so do the risks of stepping into legal trouble.
