High-speed chases. Superhero fights. Multiverses, alien worlds, and supernatural beings. This is what action movies are all about. Some of these films win Oscars (think: The Dark Knight) and shatter box office expectations (think: Avengers). Others, well, let’s just say the story doesn’t pack a punch.

And yet, we can’t help but watch bad action movies time and again. (Remember when everyone kept quoting that one line from Madame Web?) If that’s exactly what you want to be doing right now, check out the 15 worst action films currently at the bottom of IMDb.

1. Catwoman (2004)

Love Batman comics? This box-office flop follows the origin story of Catwoman (Halle Berry) as she gains her catlike powers and becomes a vigilante. The acting and plot were so poorly received that the film earned an impressive seven Razzie nominations (an annual awards ceremony for the worst movies of the year).

2. Batman & Robin (1997)

Consider continuing your Batman binge by watching George Clooney as Bruce Wayne/Batman team up with his sidekick Robin (Chris O’Donnell) to defeat Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman). In 2009, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige called Batman & Robin one of the most important comic-book movies ever made, saying, “It was so bad that it demanded a new way of doing things.”

3. The Last Airbender (2010)

Many fans of the Nickelodeon show Avatar: The Last Airbender were disappointed by M. Night Shyamalan’s 2010 live-action remake, which follows airbending Avatar Aang on his adventures with water tribe companions Sokka and Katara, and his pets, Appa, a flying bison, and Momo, a winged lemur.

4. Madame Web (2024)

The highly meme-able Madame Web takes place in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. Dakota Johnson plays a paramedic in New York City, who, after a near-death experience, begins having futuristic visions that lead her to protect three young girls from the supervillain Ezekiel. Even Johnson has admitted in interviews that the movie was destined to flop.

5. Fantastic Four (2015)

This reboot of the original Fantastic Four films follows the group as teenagers as they discover and hone their superpowers, eventually facing off against Dr. Doom. It stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell. Until Madame Web came along, many critics and review sites considered it the worst Marvel movie ever made.

6. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)

This sequel to Ghost Rider brings back Nicolas Cage as the anti-superhero who hunts down demons. Apparently, Cage’s performance the second time around was so bad that the film was nominated for two Razzie awards: Worst Actor and Worst Remake, Rip-off, or Sequel.

7. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)

The second installment of Alien vs. Predator follows the infestation by a new Alien-Predator hybrid. In 2008, it was nominated for two Razzies: Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie and Worst Prequel or Sequel.

8. Home Alone 3 (1997)

Macaulay Culkin’s presence was sorely missed by many viewers in this sequel to Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, which follows a new 8-year-old as he faces off against international criminals. The debate between film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert over this movie continues to permeate pop culture to this day.

9. Elektra (2005)

Elektra is a spin-off of 2003’s Daredevil, focused on Jennifer Garner’s character Elektra, an assassin trained in martial arts. While the movie was a flop at the time of its release, Garner’s cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine two decades later put her back on the superhero map.

10. After Earth (2013)

Night Shyamalan’s After Earth stars father-son duo Will Smith and Jaden Smith as humans who crash-land on Earth and must find their way back to their space colony. One Wall Street Journal reviewer at the time asked, “Is After Earth the worst movie ever made?”

11. Wild Wild West (1999)

Wild Wild West is about two Secret Service agents (Will Smith and Kevin Kline) on a mission in the Wild West at the request of President Ulysses S. Grant. The film garnered a whopping nine Razzie nominations, including Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay.

12. Anaconda (1997)

Anaconda follows a group of travelers (including Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Owen Wilson) in the Amazon as they try to escape a giant snake. Many people see the film as a cult classic, with its legacy generating multiple sequels and reboots, including 2025’s Anaconda starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black.

Meg 2 continues the story of a rescue diver’s (Jason Statham) encounters with the giant megalodon shark. It was nominated for three Razzies that year, including Worst Picture.

14. Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003)

In Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu reprise their roles as the crime-fighting trio. The sequel was less successful than its predecessor, earning it a Worst Excuse for an Actual Movie Razzie nomination, among others.

15. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010)

The third installment in the vampire-tween series Twilight sees the love interests, Jacob and Edward, team up to defend Bella against an army of newborn vampires. The Twilight series in its entirety has received mixed reviews, receiving both Teen Choice Awards and People’s Choice Awards nods alongside Razzies like Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Ensemble.
