Video: Leaked Batgirl Footage Shows Intense Fight Scene

Yesterday, we were surprised by news that someone had leaked unedited footage of a fight scene from the canceled Batgirl film. The presumably unfinished movie was set to star Leslie Grace as the titular character, and a number of A-list actors including J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly, and Michael Keaton, who would reprise his role as Batman. The leaked footage had apparently consisted of an unedited fight scene between Batgirl and an unknown assailant.

Despite our greatest efforts, we couldn’t find an article or source for the footage that hadn’t already been removed. Until now.

This morning, I’m delighted to announce that we’ve found the footage on Bluesky.

In that same thread, we discovered an amazing fan edit by user Erwann Kerroc’h which adds music (Dean Martin’s “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head”) and some impressive foley sound effects. The result is a truly powerful scene that looks just about ready for the silver screen. Check it out below:

Here’s a better version for it 😉

What are your thoughts on the Batgirl footage? Does it stand up to what you’ve come to expect from modern superhero movies? Do you think it should be un-canceled, rescued, or shopped off to a different distributor à la Coyote vs. Acme?
