The New Superhero Shows Premiering in 2026

A new era of superheroes is coming to television in 2026. The superhero enthusiasts of the world have four new series to look forward to in the new year, with both Marvel and DC rolling out bold new stories that expand and reimagine their universes.

Marvel Studios will kick things off in January with a clever mix of fame and superpowered chaos with the miniseries, Wonder Man. The MCU will also premiere a second series, VisionQuest, that continues the story of the android hero Vision following the events of WandaVision and Agatha All Along.

The newly rebooted DC Studios will put a spotlight on the Green Lantern universe with their new series Lanterns. Meanwhile, Amazon MGM Studios will be debuting Spider-Noir in conjunction with Sony Pictures Television, marking its first original live-action superhero series based on a Marvel character.

Each of these new series promises something distinct, whether it’s humor, introspection, or a mystery to be solved. But they all share one thing in common: a bold effort to push superhero storytelling into something more cinematic and less predictable. Keep reading to see which actors will be taking on these heroic roles, learn more about the storylines you’ll soon be invested in, and find out when you can start binge-watching your new favorite superhero show!

The first new superhero TV series scheduled to debut in 2026 is Wonder Man, which will premiere on Disney+ on January 27. Wonder Man is an eight-episode miniseries based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The show is created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest and produced by Marvel Studios. This will be the 17th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and marks the first live-action debut of Wonder Man as a central character.

The miniseries will explore Simon Williams’ career as a Hollywood actor trying to land the lead role in a remake of the Wonder Man film, all while navigating the challenges of the entertainment industry with his secret powers (how meta!). Simon Williams/Wonder Man will be played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, alongside Ben Kingsley, who takes on the role of Simon’s mentor, Trevor Slattery. In the Wonder Man mini-series, you can expect a blend of Hollywood satire and superhero action within a tightly paced storyline.

VisionQuest

Another superhero series from Marvel Studios that we’re looking forward to in 2026 is VisionQuest, set to premiere on Disney+ in late 2026. Although a specific release date for the new eight-episode series hasn’t been announced yet, VisionQuest will be the final installment of the trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024, both on Disney+. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, and James Spader will return as Ultron.

The plot centers on Vision’s journey to regain his memories and humanity while trying to find his place in the world after the trauma and identity fracture he endured in the first two series. VisionQuest will also mark the debut of Vision and Wanda’s son, Tommy. Will the series also reveal if the Scarlet Witch is still alive? Looks like we’ll have to wait until 2026 to find out!

The official trailer for VisionQuest was shown to attendees at New York Comic Con in October 2025 and has not yet been released to the general public. However, you can get the inside scoop from the New Rockstars video recap.

Spider-Noir

Spider-Noir offers a fresh take on one of America’s favorite superheroes. This eight-episode live-action series from Marvel and Prime brings a gritty, 1930s Noir twist on the colorful Spider-Verse we know and love. The Spider-Noir series stars Nicolas Cage as an aging private detective version of Peter Parker, working to uncover a conspiracy while grappling with his past. Set in an alternate universe of 1930s Depression-era New York City, the show also stars Brendan Gleeson as a dangerous mob boss with a unique “drone-eye view.”

Spider-Noir is expected to debut in early 2026, but an official premiere date has not yet been announced. It will first be released on MGM+ in the United States, then globally the following day on Amazon Prime Video. One unique feature of the Spider-Noir series that we’re excited about is its release in both color and black-and-white formats. Will you watch it in color or go for the authentic Noir aesthetic of black-and-white?

We couldn’t find an official trailer, but we came across a fan-created one that initially fooled us, yet still got us excited.  Will the real thing have a similar vibe?  We hope so!

Lanterns

Fear not, DCU fans — DC Studios also has a new live-action superhero show to look forward to! Lanterns is the latest television series from the DCU and is slated for release on HBO Max in late summer of 2026, though an official date has yet to be announced. The eight-episode series, created by James Gunn and Chris Mundy, is said to have a darker, grittier tone compared to other DCU projects.

The series features Kyle Chandler as Green Lantern and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Nathan Fillion will also return as Guy Gardner, a Green Lantern from the 2025 film Superman.  The storyline pairs veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan with rookie John Stewart as they investigate a murder in rural Nebraska. Their investigation uncovers a larger mystery and reveals legacy issues within the Lantern Corps. The creators have described the show as a fusion of True Detective with a fantastical and cosmic feel.

Which of the new superhero series set to release in 2026 are you most excited about? If we had to pick just one, it would be Marvel’s Wonder Man. It looks to be superhero satire at its finest!
