You might not think phones can leave much of an impact on a movie or TV show, but this infographic from Ooma will make you think again. They assembled a list of 45 phones that have left their mark on film and television history. The graphic arranges the phones in order of their screen debuts. The phones are illustrated alongside details of where and when they appeared and trivia that highlights why they have an iconic spot in pop culture.
Some phones are incredible feats of imagination feature in science fiction. The first video phone on screen actually appeared in 1927’s Metropolis. Since videophones wouldn’t be a reality until the 1960’s, Metropolis’ videophone was a creative feat of imagination. Here are some of the famous phones that are or were only possible in science fiction:

Other phones on the list helped define an iconic character. Neo in The Matrix is often associated with his high-tech cell phone. He was able to use voice control before it was available in commercial phones, and his pop-pup earpiece screen helped give color to his sci-fi cyberpunk world.
