It’s almost summer, which means we’re headed into superhero season — when it seems like every major studio releases a slew of action-packed films and TV shows cheering for the good guy or gal.
Of course, 2025 has already been busy for the comic world: Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn’s first movie in the new DC Universe was recently announced for the second half of this year. Marvel, meanwhile, after a fairly slow 2024 is ramping up production with several projects around new and familiar characters.
Excited? Nervous? All of the above? Whatever emotion you’re feeling, we’ll walk you through 2025’s schedule of superhero flicks and binges that have been released so far and those that are coming from the two main players: DC Studios and Marvel Studios.

January 29: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Marvel, TV Show
Join Peter Parker yet again on a neighborhood adventure in this light-hearted take from Marvel Animation, featuring comic book-style artistry. It stars the voices of Colman Domingo, Hugh Dancy, and Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox (more on him below!).

February 14: Captain America: Brave New World, Marvel, Movie
Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World is a continuation of the miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. The movie follows knighted Captain America Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he settles into his new role amid a tumultuous political environment. Disney and action fans might be thrilled to spot legacy actors Giancarlo Esposito (The Boys, The Mandalorian) and Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Blade Runner) in the cast.

March 4: Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel, TV Show
Daredevil: Born Again is the first reboot of a former Netflix series — Daredevil, which aired from 2015 to 2018 on the streaming service. The new show will have Charlie Cox reprising his role as blind lawyer Matt Murdock, also known as masked vigilante Daredevil, and take place several years after the original show ended as Murdock comes head-to-head with crime boss Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). The last episode of season 1 will air on April 15 — but don’t sweat, a second season is already confirmed.

Upcoming Releases from Marvel Studios and DC Studios
May 2: Thunderbolts*, Marvel, Movie
Thunderbolts* brings back many of our favorite heroes and antiheroes as they overcome a dangerous mission together, including Black Widow’s adoptive father Red Guardian (David Harbour) and sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh); Captain America’s best friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan); The Falcon and the Winter Soldier antagonist John Walker (Wyatt Russell); and former villains Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) of Black Widow and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Julia Louis-Dreyfus will also reprise her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the group’s de-facto leader.

June 24: Ironheart, Marvel, TV Show
We’ve waited three years to see what happened to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hero and tech prodigy Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), otherwise known as Ironheart. Now, our prayers will be answered with a new show dedicated to this iconic character on Disney+, set to launch in late June over six episodes. What we know so far: Riri will be rocking a new suit, and she’s expected to clash with Marvel supervillain the Hood (Anthony Ramos).

July 11: Superman, DC, Movie
DC Universe’s first phase is coming, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Superman stars David Corenswet as the beloved Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as his love interest Lois Lane, as well as Nicholas Hoult as the supervillain Lex Luthor. You’ll also encounter other DC Comics characters like Metamorpho, Mister Terrific, and Green Lantern.

July 25: The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel, Movie
It’s been 10 years since the last Fantastic Four live action, but it will be Marvel Studios’ first crack at the superhero team’s story after regaining the film rights in 2019. It stars superhero alumni Pedro Pascal (Wonder Woman 1984) as stretchy scientist Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher) as Ben Grimm/The Thing, as well as superhero newcomers Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch. Set in a retro-futuristic Earth, the movie will incorporate both super villains Galactus and the Silver Surfer, and kicks off the beginning of Phase Six in the MCU.

August 6: Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel, TV Show
Four-part series Eyes of Wakanda gives viewers another taste of the animated action they loved in What If…? — this time, we’re following Wakandan warriors as they retrieve vibranium artifacts, pass down the legend of the Black Panther, and encounter other Marvel characters like (surprise!) Iron Fist.

August 21: Peacemaker (Season 2), DC, TV Show
Peacemaker is a spin-off show about the popular antihero from The Suicide Squad, directed by Gunn and starring John Cena. Season two will likely take off from the events of Superman and be streamed on Max.
Trailer has not yet been released.
October 3: Marvel Zombies, Marvel, TV Show
Following the success of the zombie episode from season 1 of What If…?, Marvel Animation is launching miniseries Marvel Zombies, which the studio says will feature the voices of many fan’s favorite characters, including Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani.

December: Wonder Man, Marvel, TV Show
While not much is known about the Marvel series Wonder Man, the studio has said it will take place over eight episodes and star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as main character Simon Williams, an actor turned superhero, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery (Iron Man 3, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Simon’s agent.
