We’re barely into autumn, and 2025 has been a killer year for video games already. We’ve had epic co-op adventures like Elden Ring: Nightreign and Split Fiction, RPG juggernauts like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Expedition 33 and Oblivion Remastered, racing games like Mario Kart World, and of course, the long-awaited sequel to the indie, Souls-like favorite: Hollow Knight: Silksong.
But we’re not done with new releases just yet! With the air getting cooler, pumpkin spice flowing, and spooky season kicking off, it’s the perfect time to cozy up with the next wave of big releases.
Grab your comfy sweaters and controllers (or mouse and keyboard), and let’s look at some of the video games we’re most looking forward to this fall!
1. Ghost of Yōtei
Platforms: PlayStation 5
Release Date: October 2
Remember the breathtaking, emotionally devastating, Kurosawa-inspired beauty of Ghost of Tsushima? Well, Sucker Punch Productions is finally taking us back to feudal Japan with Ghost of Yōtei. This follow-up to Jin’s story is set on the northern island of Hokkaido, focusing on a new female protagonist named Atsu. Amidst a harsh winter landscape, our heroine seeks revenge against a gang that murdered her family 16 years ago. Expect more of the lethal swordplay, stunning visuals, and a story that will probably rip our hearts out all over again.

2. Battlefield 6
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Release Date: October 10
Sometimes you just want to witness pure, unadulterated, large-scale chaos. And for that, there is Battlefield. After a few experimental entries, Battlefield 6 is reportedly bringing the series back to its modern warfare roots. We’re talking massive multiplayer maps, amped-up environmental destruction, and the return of fan-favorite modes like Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. The scale and spectacle of this franchise are unmatched, and the promise of this next installment has person shooter fans chomping at the bit.

3. Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2
Release Date: October 16
Mega Evolutions are back! This follow-up to Pokémon Legends: Arceus will also take place in the Kalos region, but instead of an ancient, wide-open wilderness, players will be exploring Lumiose City. In this futuristic, Parisian-inspired metropolis, humans and Pokémon are working together to build a new home. When night falls, trainers get to compete in battle zones until dawn, starting from Rank Z and (hopefully) building their way up through the alphabet. This one definitely has us circling the date in our Pokédex.

4. The Outer Worlds 2
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5
Release Date: October 29
Obsidian’s brilliantly witty, anti-corporate sci-fi RPG is back, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic. The first game surprised players with its depth of player choice, dark humor, and memorable companions. The Outer Worlds 2 promises to take all of that and dial it up to eleven, dropping us into the Arcadia star system with a new crew and presumably more inept corporations to dismantle (or reluctantly help). If the trailer was anything to go by, we’re in for another unforgettable, sarcastic romp across the galaxy.

5. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2
Release Date: November 6
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity showed us the war against Ganon that took place 100 years before Breath of the Wild. It had a surprisingly hopeful, time-twisting ending. Now, Age of Imprisonment seems poised to explore the somewhat darker timeline that unfolds after Zelda is sent back in time at the start of Tears of the Kingdom. This is our chance to play through the tragic fall of Hyrule thousands of years before Link was ever born. The game promises epic-scale battles, a heartbreaking narrative, and the chance to play as characters we only saw in memories.

6. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
Platforms: PS4, PS5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
Release Date: November 14
At this point, a new Call of Duty release feels as autumnal as pumpkin spice. Treyarch always delivers the goods that first-person shooter fans love, and this entry seems no different. Expect another conspiracy-packed story, an Easter-egg-filled co-op mode, and of course, zombies.

7. Kirby Air Riders
Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2
Release Date: November 20
The beloved, cult-classic GameCube racer is finally getting a sequel! The new Kirby Air Riders is bringing back everything we loved about the original, but with new riding techniques, game modes, and a roster of riders to choose from. If you were a fan of this year’s Mario Kart release, get ready to spend even more hours just gliding around, battling your friends, and unlocking everything.

8. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Platforms: Nintendo Switch / Nintendo Switch 2
Release Date: December 4
It’s been a long, somewhat tenuous wait, but Samus Aran is finally back! Nearly 20 years after the 3rd installment, players of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released on both Switch and Switch 2. Nintendo has kept the story under wraps, but we know that the story will follow Samus, who has been transported to a strange alien world where she is granted mysterious psychic abilities that help her navigate her new environment. Strap on the Power Suit, because this is the Metroid return we’ve been waiting years for.

9. Paralives
Platforms: Windows, Mac
Release Date: December 8
Fellow Sims fans, our time has come! Paralives has been generating massive buzz for years with its promise of unparalleled customization and freedom. Developed by a small, passionate team, this game has the potential to be a breath of fresh air for the stale and underserved life-sim genre. The advanced building tools, the detailed character creation, and the promise of a living, breathing town have fans eager for this virtual dollhouse. For an indie developer, it’s a rather ambitious project, but our hopes are high!
